A quick technique to change the mood of your shot by changing the skies.
Sky replacements are an easy way to add another layer of emotion into your story and help make it more dynamic.
Steps
- Head to the Edit page. In the timeline, position your sky layer below your footage.
- Select both and make a Fusion Clip out of it.
- Head to the Fusion page and apply Luma Keyer on our main footage. Invert the selection and adjust the range of luminance to be replaced accordingly.
- Apply a Transform node on the sky to adjust its position and scale.
- Add a Planar Tracker node to our main footage, below the Luma Keyer node.
- Switch the tracker to ‘Area’ and mark a tracking area. Make sure the area marked is farthest and ever-present throughout the video.
- Hit the tracker button. And let it track the video entirely.
- Once the track is done, click on the Create Planar Transform button, which will drop a new node containing all the tracking information in it.
- Pipe this new node into our Cloud node, right below the Transform node.
- Apply our 16mm 16mm Pro 4K film overlays, like LUTs and Film Grains to help sell the effect.
